FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please see questions below for most commonly asked questions!

1. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

Dress comfortably, most students wear athleasure wear to class!  You should wear shoes you feel stable in.  For my femme’s, please do not wear heels to class, unless they are dance shoes.  You will increase your chances of injury when you dance in a shoe that is not made for this activity.

Learning basics is your focus first and your shoes will not prevent that from happening in the first several weeks!

2. DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN PARTNER?

No! You will be paired up with other students during students while rotating throughout class. If you do have a partner, great! Please bring them!  It is about a 50/50 split of students coming alone and students bringing a partner.

3. ARE CLASSES PROGRESSIVE?

Yes, our classes run in a 4-6 month curriculum with 4 week blocks per concept, depending on the class.  For instance, you may work on 6 concepts for 4 weeks at a time over 6 months, but can start inside any block, at any time.

While the classes are progressive our instructors excel in being able to break down our curriculum regardless of your level.

4. SINCE CLASSES ARE PROGRESSIVE, DO I NEED TO WAIT TO BEGIN CLASSSES?

You may start at any time.  However, if you have never taken a Salsa or Bachata dance class, a prerequisite of the Absolute Beginner Salsa & Bachata 099 class is required prior to entering the classroom. This class is designed to provide you with enough basics for you to begin in a 100-level class at any time with success.

Absolute Beginner Salsa & Bachata Class occurs on the following dates:

  • Mondays at 6:00p-7:00p
  • Thursdays at 6:00p-7:00p
  • Thursdays at 7:15p-8:15p

5. HOW LONG DO I STAY IN A BEGINNER CLASS?

Our absolute beginner classes are built to give you an overview of both salsa and bachata in order to immediately prepare you to enter a 100 or 101 class with a higher level of confidence.

Once in a 100 or 101 class we recommend remaining in this progressive class for 3-6 months. If you begin to feel stagnant in class, ask your instructor what you can continue to focus on or if you are ready to move up to a 101 or 102 class.

Our instructors will also do their best to advise you when you’re ready to move up. We encourage you to be vocal about your needs!
